The Beltway-Cosmopolitan Gashouse Gang and its National Enquirer-Style "Reporting"

I haven't been writing on the Ron Paul-Lew Rockwell Lynch Mob because I've been damn busy all week. But I am starting to catch up bit-by-bit. I've received alott'a emails on the topic, and I'll try to get back to all of you this weekend. Did'ja see the latest "reporting" from the junior henchmen of Kochtopus? I'll get to that in a minute.

The Beltway-Kochtopus libertarians and their junior blogger understudies have been trying to put Lew in the gas chamber of ideas for a very long time now. With the Ron Paul NewsletterGate, they have stooped to sensationalism and guilt by association. As I said in my previous blogs (number one here and number two here), my prosperity comes from well outside this arena, and that leaves me free to defend friends, colleagues, and people whom I admire. So I will go forth on that very note.

First off, I am told by a good source that Catoites had celebrated the New Republic piece well before the story broke. This is the kind of thing that these guys used to keep under wraps, but nowadays, they revel in the glory of their lynchings a bit too openly for their own good. For instance, this little squirt couldn't contain himself two days prior to his article launch. (Hint, hint)

In the Cato-Reason spirit of printing accusations with unnamed sources, I think I'll keep mine under wraps. For now.

So it is being said that this piece of lowbrow sensationalism is what finally did the gashouse gang in. They claim to know that Lew Rockwell did whatever deeds they accuse him of doing. The sources are "a half-dozen longtime libertarian activists," yet they are mostly anonymous. Did you expect anything else? The authors of this piece even linked to this anonymous piece at RightWatch, citing its validity because another libertarian "approved of it." I tore apart this source in this blog post. Not one person, anywhere, has been able to refute this argument from me citing the complete lack of credibility of the source. I am still waiting for the blogosphere members - who gave credibility to this garbage - to take this issue on. They want Lew Rockwell to apologize for something they can't prove he did? Let's see them step up and admit that their desire to torch the Ron Paul-Lew Rockwell 'movement' led them slightly astray.

The sensationalist writers then went to an embittered libertarian who never liked Lew Rockwell in the first place. They went to Eric Dondero, a former staffer of Ron Paul's who has spent years trying to take down Ron Paul. He runs an email list called "Republican Libertarians" to which I used to belong. I left the list because Dondero is hateful, insane, and comes across as a psychopath. Dondero was persistent at attacking Paul and Rockwell on the list. Unlike other libertarian colleagues whom I admire, I will never take the time to argue with these kind of people. But here, in a total turnabout, Dondero says it was Ron Paul who wrote the material in question, and that the Lynch Mob is trying to make it look like it was Lew Rockwell who led Ron Paul astray into anti-pc land. Dondero's hatred for Ron Paul, since his employment with Paul was ended, has been relentless. It's a bit like going to the McCoys as a source to justify rumors about the Hatfields.

The authors of the screed also used antiwar activist Carol Moore as a source, citing her as saying that Rothbard, Rockwell, and Ron Paul all "had a tendency to be anti-PC." And......so? That is an incredible quote that only confirms what I - and a few others - have said about the basis for these attacks. They are pissed at Lew because he hasn't engaged the politically-correct issues that the Kochtopus and pc libertarians demand that he engage. The Beltway Kochtopus demands that libertarianism reflect and pontificate the State's moral codes and politically-correct agenda. Lew "wasn't pc," so this is a reason to lie so that they can destroy him?

I could tear this piece down all day but 1) it's not worth my time anymore, and 2) this piece worked exactly opposite as they had hoped. The whole thing is nearly dead in the water because the sensationalist Lynch Mob exposed its agenda under some pretty bright lights. People have reacted to this piece with horror because of the very obvious plan it carries.

All said, the Weigel-Sanchez piece is done by two wannabee juniors, and it shows. This sort of "reporting" reminds me of the National Enquirer's annual "Hollywood Celebrity Cellulite" edition where they run boatloads of unsuspecting photos of celebrity cellulite at the beach. You expect it (and probably like it) coming from the Enquirer, but it's a real step downward for Reason magazine. In fact, it's embarrassing and unbecoming.

Brian Doherty, one of Reason's good writers, came back with this post on the Reason website. This is the Mother of All Spankings by a guy who was noticeably appalled by the behavior of the Lynch Mob. The comments below the post are numerous, but one in particular stands out, and that's a post by Angelo Keaton, who is Doherty's wife.

Finally, someone finds a pair and defends the right to free exchange of ideas and tolerance of the peaceful activity to speak one's mind. How refreshingly libertarian.

One of the most disgraceful aspects of this is how so many of the white male overlords in the Libertarian Party, many of them 'newbees,' demanded in the name of tolerance and diversity, the view that it is acceptable for the U.S government to slaughter Arabs, Muslims and other off-white tribes as if they were goats instead of humans.

Please, feel free to be pro-war while you condemn racism. Just remember, you might want to wipe the blood off your finger before you point it at someone else.

Angela, by the way, is a libertarian and here is her website. I went on her radio show many years ago, and found her to be refreshingly hardcore and unyielding. It seems she hasn't changed. Her website subtitle is "standing athwart history, yelling F#$% You!"

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Doherty got damn near fired for that post.

Lastly, another sign that the Kochtopus and its junior blog posters are desperate to keep this alive is this thing by none other than Kirchick himself, the author of the original New Republic piece. Here, he's just crying out, "Why won't anyone pay attention to me anymore?"

Right. People are starting to not pay attention, and Ron Paul's campaign hasn't been touched by this vile strategy to uproot him. Lew Rockwell and Ron Paul have shown us all that they will not sink to the same level of plebian journalism, so bless 'em both.
